Golf Holidays in Chamonix

pro-am

When choosing your annual golf break, Spain, Portugal or the US are the obvious choices. There is an alternative though. People have been playing golf in Alpine resorts since the late 1800's. There are many reasons why.

The Alps offer a far more comfortable climate, unparalleled views and if it takes your fancy, a nightlife that matches the quality of the courses.

Golf has a rich history in the Alps. The oldest course in the Alps is St. Moritz. It dates back to 1891 and was the idea of a couple of local hotel owners keen to provide a course for their British tourists frequenting the Alps in the summer.

The Chamonix course was created for the same reasons. In the 1930's a few of the local hotel owners started the search for a suitable area of land. The local mayor chose an area in "les Praz" which is where the present day course is situated.
